Fell & Sell Furniture and Shop Displays
Scrolls, veteran furniture, and why a chair is both a combat buff and a customer magnet.
In Fell & Sell, furniture is not a housing DLC. Tables are how you sell. Racks are how customers buy armor. Decor changes combat buffs for the next dungeon and Comfort for neighborhood traffic. Demo 2.0.1 even changed how furniture drops. This page is the item-side view; bonus numbers live on Decoration Buffs and expansion tiers on Shop Upgrades.
Furniture scrolls
Before 2.0.1, placing a chair could mean wrestling a physical object through a door. The patch turned furniture drops into elegant scrolls. You carry a scroll, then place the piece — much closer to a catalog than to a moving-company sim. If you played the earliest demo, relearn placement from the scroll, not from muscle memory of dropping a table on a pixel.
Armor racks were separately patched in Demo Update #3: you no longer need a perfect drop spot. Stand close, interact, hang the piece. Customers can buy upper armor and helmets from those racks after the same update. A helmet on the floor next to the rack is not for sale.
Carts used to teleport after a load; Demo Update #4 stopped the cart from magically changing location. If your cart still jumps, you are on a pre-#4 demo file — launch builds should keep it planted.
The exclusive demo furniture
Everyone who played the demo was promised a unique furniture piece in the full game, including on new playthroughs. Launch day 1.0.1 had to fix the grant so the piece actually appeared in inventory. If you bought the game, played the demo, and saw nothing, update past 1.0.0. The reward is a veteran flex and a Comfort/combat contributor like any other decor — place it, do not leave it in a chest.
The studio still recommends a new save for the full story, but the furniture grant is meant to follow you. See Demo vs Full Release.
What to craft first
The demo tutorial line is famous: craft a table or you cannot sell. A broken sword is the joke first weapon recipe. Benches, crates, barrels, pouches, weapon racks, vases, torches, and a cart show up early in creator footage. Recipes that needed full-game mats were locked in the demo (Update #3). In 1.0 those recipes unlock when you own the ingredients — do not assume a greyed recipe is forever.
Demo 2.0 cut material and gold costs on crafts and lowered basic mat sell prices. That means early furniture is cheaper to prototype. It also means dumping raw stone on a table for cash is less of a trap than in the first demo, but crafted displays still win long-term because they enable volume.
Overweight crafting is blocked (Demo Update #2) so you cannot spend gold and mats on a recipe that then fails to give you the item. Drop weight or bank before you hammer a rack.
Combat versus Comfort
The Steam page is explicit: interior design is not cosmetic. The right layout gives permanent combat buffs on the next dive and sales appeal. Demo 2.0 added the Comfort → neighborhood customer count rule. You are balancing two scores:
Shop buffs do apply in the dungeon after the Demo #2 carry-over fix. A pretty shop that you never leave is only half the system.
Bonus calculation bugs on furniture placement were fixed in Demo Update #1. If two identical chairs seem to give nothing, check that they are actually placed, not intersecting a wall, and that you are on a post-#1 build.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Why did furniture start dropping as scrolls?
Demo 2.0.1 changed drops to scrolls so placement is catalog-like instead of hauling a rigid object. Place from the scroll after you pick it up.
I played the demo. Where is my exclusive furniture?
Version 1.0.1 made the reward appear in inventory. Update if you launched on 1.0.0. It should remain available even when you start a new playthrough.
Is furniture only for looks?
No. Layout grants combat buffs for dungeon runs and Comfort that changes how many customers visit the neighborhood after Demo 2.0.
Can customers buy armor off the floor?
Put it on the rack. Demo Update #3 made rack placement forgiving and allowed upper armor and helmets to sell from the rack.
